Quality and Safety in Healthcare Practice
Quality and safety are common goals in healthcare practice given the fact that they define success in such a noble field. Personally, I intend to operate in future as a Healthcare Analyst for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As a healthcare analyst, I will have the golden opportunity to influence healthcare practice at the national level through competitive leadership. The CDC offers an avenue through which my ambitious dream can attain fruition as it focuses on the creation of systems that facilitate effective practice through policymaking efforts. It suffices to clarify that my impact on quality and safety will be quite indirect since I will be working with the policy gears rather than delivering direct patient care.
As an analyst, I will engage in keen explorations of the various dynamics that affect public health delivery. Such a research-oriented approach will allow me to identify strengths and flaws in the American healthcare industry (Vasilakis & Wood, 2020). I will also have a clear grasp of the necessary changes for industrial progress with respect to practice outcomes. When reflecting on the CDC’s organizational structure, it is fair to assert that I will collaborate with the Principle Deputy Director (Anne Schuchat) and the Deputy Director for Public Health Service and Implementation Science (Nathaniel Smith) (CDC, 2020). These individuals are in the best position to help me advance my mission since their practice revolves around public health service. I will be sharing valuable data and recommendation regarding the necessary course of action with respect to quality and safety. It also seems important to highlight that the Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential will go a long way in enhancing my skills in terms of leadership, decision-making, cultural awareness, systems thinking, and risk-awareness (IHI, 2020).
Clearly, quality and safety are instrumental aspects of healthcare. Such an understanding is bound to have a profound effect on my practice as a Healthcare Analyst for the CDC. I anticipate productive collaboration with the Principle Deputy Director and the Deputy Director for Public Health Service and Implementation Science.
