Labour Geography

There has been a significant uptick in labour movement actions and workplace organizing in the past few years. For this short writing assignment, choose a particular sector, job, or kind of work that has been recently engaged in collective action. Draw on course concepts and materials as well as outside research and reporting on the events to:
1) Examine who the workers are, what actions they have taken, and what motivated their recent efforts.
2) Examine how these workers have shaped the spaces and places of their labour and employment and how they have produced their own ‘spatial fixes’.
3) Make a case for why Labour Geography is a valuable lens through which to understand this workplace struggle.
