McDonalds is one of the most competitive food servicing company globally. Its restaurant sector has become well established over the year, leading to its current position in the market. Since it targets a wide range of customers, the company constantly changes its menu so that it is in line with current food trends and preferences. This company has managed to maintain its position in the industry by focusing on a strategy that ensures different products are sent to different customers, at various prices. The most common market tools used are the radio, television, newspapers, and even newsletters sent through emails to the customers who subscribe to the website. The close competitors include KFC, Burger Kings, and even Taco Bells. Hence, to constantly gain a competitive edge, McDonalds has to focus on the provision of high quality foodstuff to the target market, which will satisfy their needs and desires and still be quite affordable to them.
Marketing of McDonald
Many companies have embraced the need of proper market to help boost traffic and loyalty that will eventually lead to outstanding revenues. McDonalds has embraced the same strategy since it understands the need of maintaining its presence in the public eye (Ceil, 2017). It has adopted the use of radio, television, newspapers, social media, and even email newsletters as a way of marketing its services (Yilmaz, 2019). Therefore, a wide array of consumers are reached. Additionally, it has considered various corporate social responsibility approaches such as sponsoring various community programs and maintaining a good relationship with its customer base in the society (Arora, 2019). Through these approaches, individuals feel compelled to become loyal to the company, as in doing so, they will also be growing their society in one way or the other.
Business Expansion and Line Extension
Business expansion and line extensions are both major functions of a business. That is because they help to effectively increase a business’s market share within an industry. Business expansion occurs when stores are opened in various locations to help provide the same services to customers who seemed to be far from the main store. McDonalds operates over 30,000 outlets that are located in different parts of the world (Arora, 2019). Therefore, it has effectively engaged in business expansion since various customers who were unreachable can now access its food variety. Line extension, on the other hand, features different varieties of a product meant to satisfy the unique needs of consumers. McDonalds has effectively embraced this function since it has various types of burgers, sandwiches and even drinks from which customers can choose from.
Human Resources Management Practice
For any organization to succeed, it requires a highly functioning human resources management system. That is because it will determine whether the right employees are hired, and how they are nurtured and trained to become the best in their careers (Ceil, 2017). McDonalds hires its staff through interviews that have been posted on various forms of media. Through the human resources management team, employees are placed in different positions depending on their skills and capabilities (Ramos-Torres, 2017). Once they showcase improvement, an opportunity is presented for them to advance to higher ranks. Additionally, training and development programs are constantly presented to these employees. It helps them to keep up with current food trends and even government regulations that must be adhered to.
Operational Practice
Business operational practices are very important since it determines the end product, service offered, and even quality. Without good operational practices, an organization will struggle to achieve its set goals. McDonald’s operational practices revolve around the production of hygienic products through technology, reducing time spent on each production, and ensuring training and development for employees (Suryavanshi, 2018). Additionally, McDonald’s operational team has always been keen on ensuring that different departments follow the required product standards by assigning tasks based on skill and knowledge (Ceil, 2017). Finally, operations have also been designed to move with the current trends such as food deliveries to offices and homes, recycling of resources, and even operating branches in shifts that will ensure stores are open at all times.
Responsible Business Practice
McDonalds engages in responsible business practices by ensuring that its operations do not harm the environment or people within the community in any way. On the contrary, its practices are meant to help in the development of the local community, offer support to productive programs and many others (Yilmaz, 2019). In addition, the management is also keen on environmental protection since it always ensures that trees are planted and any waste is disposed of appropriately. Basically, a part of its profits is given back to the society through donations.
Conclusion
Considering the analysis conducted above, it is evident that McDonald’s focuses on an approach that will lead to the provision of high quality products and services that will fully satisfy the customer needs. By hiring employees based on their qualifications, and placing them effectively in the company, the set goals can be achieved. In addition, training them further will ensure that their skills are constantly updated in line with current market trends. Therefore, it is unlikely that the company will miss out on product offerings that are currently trending. Lastly, the company operations and practices are designed to ensure that corporate social responsibility is also maintained.
