Through such quests, leadership has proven very instrumental in propelling the industry to uphold professionalism and accountability by engaging the nurses in leadership. The future of nursing is promising with an exciting vision for healthcare, which requires strong leadership in realizing the intended goal. Furthermore, the growing complexities in healthcare demands and practice make the need to develop future nurse leaders very essential. This arises partly because of the increasing leaders’ massive retirement, accompanied by a severe shortage. It then makes it necessary to reflect on nursing leadership, which forms the basis of this paper to consider insights gained from the learning process, leadership, nursing history, and professionalism.

An intellectual and professional interaction with nurses is essential in developing an understanding of the profession, primarily from the answers provided by the nurses. In essence, nurse’s solutions offer a practical exposition with the reality in the workplace with critical insights concerning the challenges and the transformations experienced in this century. This helps in appreciating the progress made in the industry beginning from Nightingale to contemporary nursing practice. Besides, the leadership skills should be manifest through collaborative care where the clinical nurses have to partner with other health professionals for the realization of the much-needed quality outcome. Therefore, for the realization of a transformed healthcare system, there is a need to develop strong and influential leadership. Through that, it becomes possible for the nurses to take responsibility for the identification of problems and waste areas, then developing strategic plans to improve the situation. Besides, to deliver their advocacy responsibilities, nurses must be involved in leadership and decision making. 

Health institutions often struggle to provide quality services for their clients despite the importance of quality care. Thus, concerning the provision of care, nurses form a critical aspect in broadening the scope and increasing the chances of providing better and affordable services to the patients. However, the process of providing care is often very complex, necessitating interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to realize the quality outcome. Therefore, the four core components of care formed a significant aspect of the insights gained in this context. The four components of the care process include assessing the patient’s needs, planning for the care, providing the care, and coordinating care. Necessarily, the provision and coordination of care in nursing requires a proper assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care to determine the chances of realizing the intended outcome.

Subsequently, the evidence-based practice conversations led to the realization of the reality of a changing industry. The healthcare sector is experiencing drastic changes, including population demography. In the United States, the population is aging, creating the need for more personalized care and high risks ton lifestyle diseases. While caring for such, it is essential to incorporate research and provide services that meet the particular individual demands. Therefore, this has made it necessary for the nurses to adopt a life-long learning scheme to ensure that the skills match the current workplace demands. Through that, the goal has been to embrace the evidence-based practice, enhancing the position of research and constant training in healthcare.

Through contextualizing the history of nursing, it becomes simpler to appreciate the progress made within the profession, irrespective of the underlying challenges. Nursing practice has always been driven by the desire to provide the best care for the individuals that need it most. Such has been the reason for prioritization of the patients’ needs making nurses offer their best. Through the historical nursing codes of practice in Nightingale’s Principles of nursing care, the profession has developed guided by crucial codes of ethics and professionalism, which explains its current position as one of the most accountable and professional careers. Therefore, through history, contemporary nurses develop lasting solutions to care for the periodic shortages and the arising healthcare complexities.

In conclusion, learning fundamental concepts and issues in nursing leadership has proven vital in the transformation of healthcare. As we advance, nurses will have to play a critical role in healthcare that goes beyond their bedside services to form a substantial part of the boardroom personnel. It will make it necessary for the nurses to expand their scope and practice as well as improve their leadership skills because of the increasing demand for full collaboration between them and other healthcare service providers. Therefore, they have to be part of the policy formulation, creating nursing training to incorporate policy dynamics and multifocal relationships management, thus, transforming the industry and enhancing the chances of achieving the much-needed quality of the outcome.
