Answer
Nursing and Medical Problem Difference
The difference between a nursing practice problem and a medical practice problem lies in the fact a nursing practice problem involves a compressive human response and accurate or significant health challenges and other life involvements that affect people. Nursing practice problem, therefore, ranges from the clinical needs of a patient the moment they set foot in a health facility, during the doctor’s diagnosis and assessment, there continuous stay in the health facility until they exit (Boxwell & Petty, 2020). Nursing practice problem involve collection of comprehensive data of the patient for example during physical examination and regular analysis and tabulation of the progress of a patient.
While medical practice problem involves physical and scientific research that offers solutions to health problems that affect the people. Medical practice problem therefore ranges from the physical examination, data analysis, laboratory testing, accurate interpretation and solutions to the patient (Boxwell & Petty, 2020). Medical practice problem, through scientific interpretations is able to determine the average time it takes for a patient to restore to normalcy. Medical practice problem is limited and not regular to certain level in the life span of a patient for example, direct diagnosis of the disease the patient is suffering from. Providing and issuing of positive recommendations as per the challenges of the patient.
Why it is Important to Ensure your PICOT is Based on a Nursing Practice Problem
It is important to ensure the PICOT used is based on a nursing practice problem because it makes the process smooth, accurate and easier. A nursing practice problem ought to be relevant and of huge impact to the population or problems involved and designed in a way to facilitate a vigorous search for solutions.(Hinkle & Cheever, 2018). PICOT enables the nursing practitioner to approach the nursing research question or practice problem with adequate and accurate evidence in relation to nursing practices. Furthermore, PICOT eliminates certain hindrances that may affect accuracy of the result thus rendering it dysfunctional.
