Answer
Dysfunctional Medical Market
Question 1
I think that the idea of the use of the idea available under the Economic Rules of a Dysfunctional Medical Market is fundamental towards learning about health. Evidently, the framework provides an indication of the fact that health and high costs are directly related concepts (Rosenthal, 2018).
Question 2
#11. An effective health is directly linked to costly treatment options.
#12. The uninsured are highly likely to have a diminished health outcome in comparison to the insured.
These items were identified since they suggest that one should be willing to spend to enjoy an effective treatment
Question 3
- I found it surprising that even with technology the prices of healthcare are increasingly rising. Evidently, technology is considered as a factor which is expected to reduce the costs of healthcare services (Minh & Löfgren, 2019). However, this is not the case in Rosenthal’s work.
- It was also surprising that competitors within the field of healthcare fail to compete based on price.
- It was also astonishing that even with the stiff competition experienced in the sector, the prices of the health care services continue to rise rather than decline (Rosenthal, 2018).
- I was also surprised by the fact that even in the field of health care, the costs of a procedure are not fixed. This provides an indication that the prices can rise based on the type of procedure being completed on the patient.
- It was also surprising that in America, patients lack a free choice in that they are always stuck on the factor of American buying.
