Answer
Operation Management at Airbnb
Strategy of Globalization
Airbnb's main objective is to develop an international environment where individuals experience magical freedom and travel that offers unique, authentic, local, and international experience (Mobley, 2020). In the past years, Airbnb has altered the manner in which individuals travel across the world. Studies indicate that currently, Airbnb operates in more than 190 states, providing travelers with freedom to explore their accommodation in different hotels and explore a city like local (Mobley, 2020). There are different strategies that Airbnb has implemented to ensure successful global and multilingual customer support. These strategies include branching out in new and foreign languages, multilingual, travelers' perspective, transcreation, localizing market campaigns, and utilizing approaches to obtain new hosts in new markets.
Branching out in new and foreign languages is considered an approach that has a significant impact on Airbnb. The image of an organization, such as Airbnb, is developed to portray the global market. Therefore, it is considered natural for the organization to provide its services in new and foreign languages and necessitate multilingual customer service solutions (Mobley, 2020). The main objective of the Airbnb is to be both a local and an international brand. For this reason, the organization offers its services in 26 different languages, enabling it to reach every nook and corner of the world.
Regardless of the traveler's origin, there is a common thread that connects these individuals when it comes to anticipations when traveling. Under the Traveler’s perspective strategy, Airbnb ensures that it satisfies travelers' attitudes and language by observing their different perspectives (Mobley, 2020). The Multilingual approach is considered a standard in other areas as most of the world individuals speak two or three languages. Airbnb utilizes this strategy to attain hosts who can write their listings in more than one language and provide multilingual customer assistance (Mobley, 2020). Conclusively, Airbnb's main globalization strategies include branching out in new and foreign languages, multilingual customer support, and observing the traveler's perspective.
Project Management Techniques
Significant, complex business projects necessitate different activities and costs. With the high stakes, managing some projects often present challenges to various organizations. For this reason, two quantitative analytical approaches have been developed to oversee these challenges. These techniques include the Critical Path Method (CPM) and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) (Radhakrishnan & Saikeerthana, 2020). These techniques assist managers in planning, monitoring, and overseeing large projects.
The CPM and the PERT techniques incorporate dividing a significant project into a series of smaller activities and tasks. Although the methods are considered to differ in their original nature, six steps are common in these techniques (Radhakrishnan & Saikeerthana, 2020). These steps are supposed to define a project and its significant activities. Moreover, the models develop a series of these activities, draw a network diagram that links these activities, assign costs and time assessment, compute the most prolonged period through a network, and utilize the system to manage and observe a project.
PERT is considered an excellent approach for monitoring project completion time. However, it does not consider expenses. A modification of this model permits managers to oversee costs and project period. Studies indicate that CPM strategies project expenses through two evaluations: normal and crash assessments (Radhakrishnan & Saikeerthana, 2020). Normal period and expenses are considered as estimates of project period and expenses under normal circumstances. On the other hand, Project crashing is recognized as the period and costs to accomplish a project on deadline, on some occasions, through extra expenditure to minimize the completion period (Radhakrishnan & Saikeerthana, 2020). Conclusively, PERT and CPM assist managers in controlling the total time project and minimizing some activities and expenses
