Organizational Effectiveness
Organizational effectiveness is the organization’s ability to be effective in reaching their goals towards achieving success. The organization looks at leadership, the influence of the leadership on the employees and culture of the organization, the support of the employees, finances, management, communication and other aspects that play a role in the organization’s functioning. The leaders look at the performance abilities of the employees. In order to determine organizational effectiveness, the leaders have to have a plan to evaluate or measure the organization’s progress and current practices.
Covey's Perspectives on Leadership in Action
Covey’s perspective on leadership in action focuses on vision, teamwork and inspiring commitment among the employees (Covey, 1991). Leadership is about being effective as related to the vision of what is to be accomplished. This means applying direction, purpose, meaning and sensitivity. Covey suggests that leaders have to be self-aware, mature and principled person. Leaders in my organization strive to support the staff. They are effective in communicating with the staff and ensuring the vision of the organization is at the forefront of the work that is done. They provide the needed resources and focus on a teamwork component emphasized among the staff. The leaders foster a strong relationship with the staff in my organization.
Initiatives Leaders Encourage and Support
One of the major initiatives that my workplace environment does is promoting a space where workers can communicate issues, challenges or problems they may have. The workers can also offer suggestions on ways to improve the workplace environment and the services provided to the clients. Staff meetings are essential in my workplace. They are ways that the leaders in my organization do to support the staff and improve the environment in the workplace. The organization also ensures the staff have the needed resources to what they need to do. Another way the organization encourages and support the workers is by offering professional development opportunities to them. This helps the workers to enhance and build their skills. The leaders work to ensure the professional development activities are those that reflect what the staff need in order to become more effective. The organization encourage the staff to seek professional development opportunities that are provided outside of the workplace environment This may consist of those activities that are provided by universities and professional national organization.
Leaders Support of My Work
I believe my organization is supportive of the work I do. My organization is good at fostering a place where I can be effective and successful in my position. They give access to resources I need, and the leaders encourage and give support by providing professional development opportunities at work. This helps me to be involved in learning and developing my skills so that I can be more effective in working with clients and the community. Staff meetings are regularly scheduled. Staff meetings are critical as it relates to support of the staff. The meetings allow the leaders to discuss updates and current status of the organization. The staff meetings provide an environment for the leaders to acknowledge the staff and their work. It is a way to communicate and actively listen to the staff. Strategies like group settings, virtual and face to face meetings to communicate with staff are effective means for the leaders to connect with the staff (Berg & Bradley, 2016).
