Your journal this week will help you get started on developing your personal Philosophy of Nursing Statement. You will continue to develop this statement over the next six weeks through these journal assignments.
In this week's journal, construct your initial draft of the opening statement and assumptions sections of your philosophy of nursing. In this first draft, you will reflect on the elements below:
Introduction: Open your statement with a few sentences about the importance of a philosophy of nursing practice. How does such a philosophy shape your identity and role as a nurse?
Assumptions: Discuss your assumptions about patients, health, environment, and nursing and the relationships among these variables. How does your nursing philosophy guide your interaction with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals? How do professional integrity, equity, ethics, and the potential for bias factor into your assumptions?

Answer
Personal Philosophy of Nursing
Introduction
My personal definition of nursing is having a healthcare system that is freely accessible and available to all cost-free due to full funding by the government. This statement comes in a time when people have more expectations from companies and the government (Singh, Majumdar, & Saini, 2017).
Assumptions
The major assumptions are made in the above statement. The first one is that the government is capable of providing care to all people. The second assumption is that citizens and other taxpaying parties can sustain the cost-free system. The third assumption is that a cost-free health care system for patients will results in better health outcomes compared with the cost-effective system supported by Liu et al. (2016). The last assumption is that a free-cost health system will not result in streaming of unmanageable number of patients to healthcare facilities on a daily basis. Professional integrity and ethics influences me to assume that nurses should provide care to all without any barrier; especially cost. Equity influences me to assume that the government has a responsibility of providing care to all people within her borders.
Impact of the Nursing Philosophy on Stakeholders
It will increase the depth of healthcare decisions that I will have with patients and their families since they will be ready to divulge all medical issues and psychological issues affecting the patient and the family since they will not be barred by cost implications. Besides, it will increase the level of interactions that I will have with other healthcare professionals as I work in a multidisciplinary team to address various issues presented by patients and their families.
