Personal Statement

Following the completion of my undergraduate program, I intend to pursue my Masters education at Brock University. My selection is Master of Business Administration with the specialization of finance. My interest in finance is primarily driven by my passion for business and the general economy. Finance is pertinent to all elements of business, personal finances and the macro economy. It plays a fundamental role in the general health of the economy and therefore has an impact on every individual in a given region. I perceive that my passion for business can be fulfilled by career in finance since it is the core of all things business. All elements of business involve finance since they must make financial arguments to acquire funding for various projects as well as the management of budgets.

My main long term objective in pursuing a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in finance is to propel myself into a future career as a Finance Manager or Investment Manager of a Fortune 500 Company. In the short term, I aim to acquire knowledge and skills in general financial management that would help me fit into any financial role in my chosen career path. Additionally, I have a particular interest in investment management. Through the finance specialization I aim to be well-versed with investment concepts and practices in preparation for my future career plans in investment. From a personal perspective, my interest and therefore objective in a finance specialization is inspired by my desire to make sound financial and investment decisions. A finance specialization will undoubtedly give me a solid grasp of the necessary financial insight to aid me in making such decisions.

The economy is unquestionably the most important aspect of a nation. It determines the overall status of the country and classifies it as developed, developing or underdeveloped. I have always found the economy to be rather fascinating due to all the factors that it influences and those that influence it; finance lies at the core of all these factors. Subsequently, my research interests are associated with the study of the role that finance plays in the macro economy; this primarily focuses on investment conceptions and decisions in a particular economy.

In terms of previous working experience, I did my internship as a Finance Intern at a local company in China for a period of three months. Additionally, immediately after completing my undergraduate degree I took a job as a Finance Assistant at another local company, where I worked for a period of one year. During this time I had the opportunity to attend numerous seminars and conferences dealing with finance, which mostly served to peak my interest in this specialization. I have decided to pursue Masters in Business Administration (Finance) in fulfillment of this budding passion.

There are numerous reasons why I am particularly suited for this position at your esteemed institution. Firstly, I have a creditable background in finance as attributed to my undergraduate education and my previous work experience. Secondly, I am the most optimal candidate for this position because I have the ability to complete the program successfully. I am inherently driven and ambitious. Moreover, I have always been a high performance student, which I intend to extend to your program as well. Most important, I have an unprecedented passion and genuine interest in the finance specialization. It is aligned with my career goals and I intend to pursue it to the end. I can confidently assure you that selecting me for this program will be a sound decision.
