Plato’s Theory of Form and Arguments

Introduction

Plato’s approach in his book The Republic centers on the notion of political, societal, and justice concepts of human being integrity. Plato describes political justice as accord in a structured political entity. Plato emphasizes that an ideal community or society is comprised of three significant classes of individuals. These include producers, auxiliaries, and guardians. A community is considered to be just when interactions between these classes are appropriate and effective. The analogous between just individuals and just societies are considered philosophical. Guardians or rulers are known to be governed by their rationale faculties and often endeavor for awareness. In his article "The Allegory of the Cave" from Book VI of the Republic, Plato identifies philosophers as the best rulers. This review aims to evaluate whether Plato’s theory of Form and arguments as philosophers as the best rulers for the state are valid. The article centers its discussion on book VI by analyzing some of the theories and forms presented in the Allegory of the Cave as well as explain why Plato's theory is valid.

In book VI of the republic, Plato uses three analogies to express his ideas. These include the cave, allegories of the sun, and the line. According to Plato, humanity is divided into two realms, the observable and comprehensible world. Individuals grasp the visible aspects with their senses. It is often the universe things that people see. An Individual's mind normally grasps the intelligible world. It incorporates the Forms, unchanging absolutes such as attractiveness, kindness, sweetness, and redness. Plato indicates that only individuals with trained minds can understand these aspects. He presents a reminiscent image of the philosopher’s strength of mind moving through different levels of cognition through discernible realm into the logical. Plato emphasizes that education is not to put acquaintance into the soul, rather put the accurate desires in the soul. Plato accentuates that philosophers are individuals who possess the knowledge and often just men suitable to be leaders.  Plato advocates that philosopher’s souls often aim to accomplish the desires of the rational part. Moreover, the theorist claims that justice is valuable. None of the arguments presented by Plato demonstrate that justice is enviable apart from the consequences. In his article, the Allegory of the cave, he indicates that justice is often associated with true pleasure. The desire for justice is related to the cherished relationship linking Forms and the just life.

Plato’s Form and arguments indicate that individual justice incorporates correct structural interactions within the soul. Comparing the warriors, rulers and producers in the metropolis, Plato advocates that every a human being spirit has three different seals of motivation and desire. These include the rationale, appetitive, and spirited parts of the soul. Conclusively, Plato's theory of Form and arguments can be considered valid due to different reasons, such as philosophers being just individuals. For that reason, they opt to be the best rulers. The philosopher supports his thesis by creating a scenario that explains the impact of knowledge. Plato advocates most souls are trapped in the body like the group of individuals in the cave. Plato's arguments are valid since education has always been the bridge of different ventures in politics. Philosophers can be the best rulers, given that they have passed through different cognitive stages of attaining knowledge. Moreover, the philosopher’s arguments may be valid sine a good ruler has to be well educated to comprehend different aspects of justice.  Philosopher’s souls often aim to accomplish the desires of just. Plato's work presents philosophers as best rulers suggesting that they can encounter three levels of pleasure. However, his argument for justice being worthwhile has presented different controversies. Plato's Form and arguments are valid, but not all of them present philosophers as best rulers.
