    1. QUESTION

Answer two of the following questions in a minimum of 550 words. When answering the two questions you choose, please know your answers should be grounded in empirical sources. So, as you construct your response, be sure to use references to ensure your point of view is credible. Your book is one reference you can use, however to strengthen your position, it is always best to use peer-reviewed scholarly journals. In essence, your opinion is less valuable at the graduate school level, without it being grounded in scholarly information. When you write your post, please be thorough and clear.

    1. Provide an empirical example of how the value chain works within an organizational setting.
    2. Provide an empirical example of how data, information, and knowledge have transformed an organization.

Provide an empirical example of how data, information, and knowledge have transformed an organization

Data has significantly impacted the organization in various ways. For instance, the use of Unified Modeling Language (UML) is one of the common examples which provide a depiction of how data can be used to significantly impact an organization. Moreover, UML data has also proved to be effective for organizations based on the fact that it guides the users in the illustration of how data models available in different information systems can be manipulated despite their simplicity or complexity, to generate a valuable outcome (Fowler, 2004). Kaya (2018) shows that through the adoption of data, businesses have derived significant benefits across various domains such as e-government, e-commerce, security and health science.

Information has also significantly transformed the business environment by providing users with details about how they can become more efficient in their dealings in the form of organized data (Fowler, 2004). Evidently, with information, users can meet and exchange information on every aspect involving product development and the business. The outcome is that over time, the two parties get to know each other better. Therefore, a social dimension is established with an aim of business relationship development through a better interaction (Kaya, 2018). Knowledge has also transformed the organization by providing an insight into the fundamental factors which can enhance the efficiency and performance of the business. For instance, knowledge about how to use big data to share information among the members of the organization in real time has worked favorably in saving costs for the firms. Evidently, businesses no longer have to duplicate resources to ensure that each member has an access to information stored over the cloud. Rather, users can access the information through the web at their convenience (Kaya, 2018).

Discuss the many ways that users use applications in the cloud in today’s business environment

Cloud technologies have become popular in businesses today as a result of their efficiency alongside other benefits. Businesses have implemented the usage of cloud technologies in various ways. According to Stair and Reynolds (2017), cloud technology offer storage services which are beneficial for companies. Notably, the storage services have enabled the users within the business environment to store its fundamental data in the cloud in the form of data backup. As a result, the firms do not have to worry about data loss or the need to purchase additional hardware to ensure effective storage. The cloud services have made it possible for the data to be stored between the employees within the organization as well as other stakeholders in the business. Gunther, Rezazade, Huysman and Feldberg (2017) point out that the users who have managed to use the cloud for storage enjoy benefits such as data synchronization, integration, and a timely access to data.

The cloud also offers a business information system which users within a business environment rely on to facilitate the process of decision making (Stair & Reynolds, 2017). Arguably, cloud computing is a prerequisite for establishing a business development strategy which impacts the entire business activities while ensuring effectiveness and flexibility over time. Also, business users also use the cloud applications, such as the cloud office suites, to derive benefits such as easy administration (Gunther et al., 2017). The fact that the cloud office suites can be accessed over the web browser provides a depiction that the business users can enjoy the benefit of easy administration. Arguably, they will not have to install the packages on locally or engage in constant software updates to ensure its regular usage.
