Answer
Purpose and Usefulness of Program Evaluation
The National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) was established to serve the purpose of transforming individuals and communities. NOHS provides professional development opportunities, advocates for social change and promotes certifications. Further, the organization supports the Keep Families Together Act. By supporting the Keep Families Together Act, NOHS helps in reconnecting the children held in custody without in the border of Mexico and the US (National Organization for Human Services, 2019). NOHS undertakes various programs to meet its objectives. Therefore, this paper outlines the purpose and usefulness of program evaluation at NOHS.
One of the purposes of conducting program evaluation at NOHS is to determine what works and what does not work for NOHS. The outcome of the evaluation enables the managers to understand how effective the program (Guyadeen, & Seasons, 2016). For example, it helps the management to know whether NOHS is successful in reconnecting the children held in custody with their families. Further, conducting a program evaluation helps to understand whether the participants are benefiting from the program, their satisfaction level, for example, is families benefiting from the NOHS reconnection program?
The purpose of program evaluation, for example, knowing how NOHS program work is helpful to managers. Once the management knows what works, they utilize the outcome to mobilize and focus resources on the significant components of the program that benefit the participants (Smith et al, 2014). Besides, knowing what does not work enables the National Organization for Human Services program managers to strengthen and improve the delivery models of the program.
In short, understanding the purpose of program evaluation is a major step in correcting the wrongs, mobilization of resources and refocusing the resources on the essential components of the program. This helps in avoiding program failure.
