Answer
Implementation of Renewable Energy Sources
Renewable energy sources are self-replenishing, thus considered sustainable. Such sources of energy are inexhaustible and can be used repeatedly without harming the environment. The primary sources of renewable energy include biomass, especially biogas and ethanol, hydropower, geothermal, wind, and solar power (Pawlowska & Pawlowski, 2017). Out of these options, solar energy is the most frequently used by households. Backed by this understanding, this paper documents the implementation of solar energy sources.
Solar energy refers to the power captured from light and heat produced by the sun. Since the ancient days, solar energy has been tapped and converted to other uses. For instance, concave mirrors or shiny surfaces were used to manufacture solar cookers, concentrating the sunrays to a single focal point (Wittenberg & Matthies, 2018). The cover would then absorb the thermal energy and heat up cooking the food inside it. The second approach to tapping solar energy has been aided by technological advancements, especially in the solar industry. Solar panels are classified as green technologies since they generate clean energy and go not emit greenhouse gases. Solar energy is used to trap sun rays, which can then be converted to either heat or electricity.
According to Wittenberg and Matthies, (2018) solar technology is classified as passive and active solar. Active solar panels use photovoltaic systems to harness solar energy, which can be used for diverse household and industrial activities. These panels use photovoltaic methods to generate electricity from the sun rays. Other alternatives for collecting active solar energy are using solar concentrators focused on turbines to produce thermal energy. Secondly, solar systems can be used in air conditioning and solar water heating.
The solar systems work by trapping sun rays and converting them into photons. The arrangements are further equipped with features that enable them to transform the photons into photovoltaic energy stored in solar cells. The energy can then be converted to either direct current or alternating current, used for different functions. On the other hand, passive solar entails using materials with favorable thermal mass to trap and heat spaces such as buildings.
