Answer
Serial Murders
Serial murders tend to project a certain pattern that usually is the link that is used to trace the perpetrator behind the murders. Practically, it has been found that the motive behind serial murders varies and often is associated with the perpetrators doing it for pleasure or for financial gain (Burtol & Burtol, 2010). Victimology is an important aspect of serial murders as it points out to the interests or type of victims that the murderer is interested in drawing attention to potential victims to be protected. In this directive, victimology thus plays into the character of the serial murderer and provides the untold information about the murderer and the motive or message trying to be passed through the murders (Burtol & Burtol, 2010). However, in cases of mental health, victimology has to be considered as a point of expressing a want or emotions that can only be understood when carefully analyzed.
Stopping serial murders is not particularly an easy task. This is such that, several factors have to be considered in the determination of the motive behind such actions. The mental health status of the murderer has to be considered so as to determine whether the influence is financial, emotional or misplaced due to the misunderstanding of factors (Burtol & Burtol, 2010). In this regard, stopping serial murders would require that the law authorities are more vigilant and the public is educated more on mental health and safety. The targets of serial killers usually bear similar characteristics and hence, it would be prudent to have the public report of any unusual activities even as the law enforcement agencies increase their participation in public safety. In the long term, serial murders may only be contained in the event that the public works together with the law enforcement agencies.
