Answer

Statistics: Relationship between Income and Education

Relationship between Education and Income among Women

It can be deduced from the elaboration Model that there is no relationship between education and income among women. There is a higher percentage (70%) for women without higher studies qualification that earn less than 10,000, and the same percentage (70%) for women with higher studies that earn less than 10,000. In the same line, there is a lower percentage (30%) for women without higher studies that earn less than 10,000, and the same percentage (30%) for women with higher studies that earn more than 10,000. This could be because many women are doing work that does not consider educational qualification or many of them have today gained increased access to higher education compared to the past.

Relationship between Education and Income among Men

From the elaboration Model, there is a relationship between education and income among men. The model shows varying percentages for both men without higher studies that earn less than 10,000 and those with higher studies that earn more than 10,000. Notably, there is a higher percentage (70%) for men without higher studies that earn less than 10,000 and lesser percentage (40%) for men with higher studies that earn less than 10,000. In the same line, there is a lower percentage (30%) for men without higher studies qualification that earn more than 10,000, and higher percentage (60%) for men without higher studies that earn more than 10,000.  This could be because majority of men are involved in non-white color jobs as well in white color jobs due to the patriarchal political state of working environments.

Sex as an Intervening Variable

Sex is an intervening variable in this discussion because it expounds on gender roles and responsibilities that put men on an upper scale of both education and income levels since the society expects them to deliver more than women (Olivia, O’Neill & Charles, 2009). For example, a small percentage of males (40%) with higher studies earn less than 10,000 compared to women (70%) with higher education qualification.
