QUESTION
Strong Argument
Last week you read a substantial portion of The Quest by creation biologist Dr. Todd Wood. Based on your reading, please discuss the following in a 250-word (minimum) post:
What did you consider to be the strongest argument that he presents for young Earth creation? Why is that?
What did you consider to be the most difficult problem facing young-Earth creation?
In your post, please provide TWO additional sources that discuss the topics you chose (one source for each). Sources can be Faith, Form, and Time, Is Genesis History, or another source such as a book, journal article, or article from a organizational website. If choosing the latter, suggestions include:

Answer
Young Earth Creation Theory
What did you consider to be the strongest argument that he presents for young- Earth creation? Why is that?
The argument by Todd Wood that Creationism is incompatible with evolution is perhaps his strongest argument for the young Earth Creation. It is perhaps important to note that Wood identifies evolution as a plausible and very successful scientific theory[1]. He admits that this success, however, does not make evolution absolutely true, and certainly does not erase the possibility of having certain alternatives to the theory. He seems to imply that evolution itself is not a failure, and young creationists would be duped into thinking so; it is a theory with evidence and proof. Still, though, Wood chooses to be guided by faith in his understanding of the Creation story and relies on Biblical proof to explain his beliefs. The reason why his belief by faith perspective is important is that for the young Earth creation adherent, it would be easier to understand that the faithful reading of the Bible prohibits the thought that evolution is true, even while it can be admitted that as a scientific theory, evolution is very successful.
What did you consider to be the most difficult problem facing young-Earth creation?
As a theory, the major problem facing young-Earth creation is the failure of the theory to respond to the empirical test demanded by modern science[2]. The Age of earth question, with the young Earth’s insistence on the fact that the Earth is only about 6,000 years old is itself inconsistent with the possibilities that have been unearthed by scientific dating. There is solid proof that the Earth is much older than we are led to believe by the young Earth creationists, and there is no evidence, other than faith, through which the young-Earth creationists could support their claim. When young-Earth creation theory is confronted with topics like the origin of DNA and empirical facts that need back-up, the theory seems to crumble. Faith alone is not proof enough in the eyes of many, and the scripture does not help young-Earth creationists in how to deal with emerging provable scientific insights.Bib
