Answer

The laws of any society play an integral role in ensuring that society's values and practices remain intact over the years.   Societies governed by the rule of law has people who ensure that the laws of the society are enforced. However, despite the law's presence, there are several items that are today legal that should be made illegal by the state through the use of the law. One such factor is the possession of guns by civilians. Guns have, over the years, resulted in the massive loss of lives both on the battlefield and away from the battlefields. Guns were developed for security organs such as the military.  Civilians should not be allowed to own guns because of the risk they pose to society's members. Currently, the law allows citizens who can afford to purchase and own guns.  The guns the civilians have access to range from simple handguns to the more powerful and deadly assault rifles. It is time to change the law and prohibit civilians from owning guns. The ban should not apply to just a class of guns but all the guns. Over the years, the guns have proved to be a serious security threat to several people in the community. Several innocent people have lost their lives from mass shooting incidences across the country.  Additionally, the guns have also been used by deviants such as thieves to kill and maim their victims.  It is, therefore, imperative to take away all the guns in order to keep society safe.  There are other weapons such as arrows, but they are not as lethal as guns. The state should, therefore, enact laws to make guns illegal for civilians. The guns should be named illegal through the use of laws because of the following reasons; first, most people tend to obey laws because of the punishment that comes with breaking such laws. The punishments help motivate the citizenry to respect and abide by the laws. Secondly, making it, law means the country's law enforcement organs such as the police will have the legal mandate to ensure the lethal weapons are taken out of circulation.
