The Termination of Vietnamese War

In 1960, the US government sent combat troops to Vietnam. The main aim of this mission was to spread democracy and all that is associated with freedom. However, the rise of war which left millions of Vietnamese dead and hundreds in prison remains an unsettled mystery to date. The negative aspect of this motive brought the soldiers to their senses and later realized that what they were sent to do was much worse. The soldiers termed it as inhuman and a section rebelled, an act that sent some to prison for defying the orders. This paper, therefore, seeks to explicate why these soldiers were opposed to this war and the reason why a similar war cannot develop as of now, and the rationality in the exchange of letters between Lyndon Johnson and Ho ChiMinhand.

Initially, the US government trained the berets to treat and cure basic ailments so as to initiate themselves into the Vietnamese community and win their hearts a move that later turned to be a strategy to plant a siege and stage war against them. Meanwhile, they had started bombing the villagers and subjecting them to torture, a sinister move that was clearly against the initial plan made the soldiers question the government and later quit claiming that they were not killers. As of now, a similar war cannot happen under any circumstance since soldiers are ingenuity educated and are much aware of human rights. Furthermore, the inclusion of human rights charter and establishment of unions cannot allow such wars.

Secondly, for every war to cease several attempts of peace talks must become the order of the day. According to me, I think the quest for peace negotiations between Lyndon Johnson and Ho ChiMin was rational in that; based on their proposals, failure to establish peace might result in a heavy death toll. Moreover, the historical impact of the war will leave harsh judgment on their heads. According to Vietnamese president – Ho Chi Minh – the request to halt the bombings was a great move since the peace talks would make no sense when the US was still deploying the attacks. The exchange of peace negotiation letters was, therefore, a tremendous idea since it prevented further infliction of pain.

In conclusion, this paper masks itself in explaining how the war was contemplated against Vietnam by the US government which disguised itself as an aid but later changed their motive and employed an attack, which rendered thousands lifeless and forcing the majority into exile. From this whole genocide-related wound, the world seemed to have deployed possible means such as having unions to fight for human rights and international courts which makes sure that such occurrences do not recur. Finally, this paper has shown a nod that the exchange of letters between the two presidents was a tremendous move that played an important role in the termination of this war.
