As we have traveled the winding waves of our origins as a Nation and into the era of Reconstruction, we have seen our nation develop ideas, both good and ill, regarding the rights of the individual and the ideal of the “American Dream”. Given this we even bore witness to much of what makes our nation what it is today, and, hopefully, has encouraged you to make your voice heard in the greater narrative of our nation.
The ideal of “American Freedom” is not without controversy. Many find it an ideal worth fighting, and even dying for others. Others see it as a hypocrisy used to justify greater evils over the decades.
For this paper you are to write NO LESS than five (5) pages on one of these two questions:
Has there ever been a real “American Dream”?
Or
What, if any, changes have been made to try & help our society live up to the “American Dream”?
