The Importance of RHIA Credential to a Career in Health Information Management
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential plays a critical role for anyone in the health information management profession. whether an individual is just beginning a career journey or is well placed on the path of a successful health information management (HIM) professional, healthcare privacy and security, health data analysis, or coding, RHIA credential and certification in HIM acts as their guide to salary increment, career enhancement, and more success in one’s chosen career profession. Essentially, the credentials are earned via a challenging program of education, examinations, and experience, which are thereafter maintained through continuous education and reviews.
In the journey of career development and growth, earning a RHIA credential places one in a special league, positioning them as potential leaders and role model within the health informatics and information management community. Making investments in RHIA certification is an investment in a persona self and even in one’s long term career success. RHIA credential and certification helps one increase and improve their earning potential, open better channels to more career opportunities and advancement, improve job mobility and relevant choices even in a face of a tough job market, and not only reach short-term job goals, but also be better positioned for greater success in an individual’s long-term career.
The accreditation also has the capacity to build a firm foundation of broader and deeper understanding since a person gets associated with RHIA’s long-standing and strong reputation of excellence and integrity. It is, therefore, important for people in the HIM field to reach out to such accreditation opportunities and create deeper connections with a strong network of RHIA-certified peers so that they are plugged into a unique and prestigious community of on-going support. However, after reviewing the website and the detailed information, the only questions I have for the course instructor is whether a person receives an automatic upgrade and salary increment at work place after accreditation, or that too takes a long time. Also, I would like to know whether an already certified RHIA member can enroll for masters or the certification covers it all.
