The Place of Creationism in the Discussion of Biogeography
When it comes to studying the distribution of diverse species and ecosystems in different geographic spaces, scientific standpoints play a considerable role. Primarily, the study of life in different environments is the core definition of biogeography, and concepts such as evolution and Darwinism have significance in its discussion. The concepts undergo a scientific probe to unravel their contribution in identifying why certain species exist in a given geographic space (Flannery, 2018). However, as far as science is concerned, it might not be forthcoming to include creationism as one of the concepts contributing to the discussion of biogeography. This paper seeks to explain creationism concept and the reason for its exclusion in the discussion of biogeography.
The concept of creationism relies on a belief that everything originates from a divine act of creation as depicted in the biblical account, and not because of natural processes like evolution (Flannery, 2018). Since science is a substantiated elucidation of some natural world features, it incorporates laws, facts, tested hypotheses, and inferences. Creationism does not provide room for scientific proof and is based on a belief. In evolution, fossil records and other evidence apply scientifically to testify how organisms have transformed or evolved (Williams, 2015). Furthermore, evolution theories can be used to determine the distribution of organisms in specific geographic locations.
Creationism would only propose that specific patterns of biogeography surface because God deliberated for them to happen. The problem arises when these claims fail when subjected through scientific proofing. Biogeography can help explain evolution and Darwinism and vice vasa. In certain instances, however, creationists have a different argument that evolution predictions do not conform to patterns of biogeography (Williams, 2015). Generally, it is evident opinions would differ; nonetheless, the concept of evolution has the aspect of science, unlike creationism. Therefore, the creationism concept has no place in explaining biogeography because there is no way to render God to scientific studies.
