Answer

The Role of Federal, State, and Local governments in Education

In the United States, education is provided in three categories including private, public and home schooling. Therefore, both the state and local government play a vital role in education States, communities, public, and private organizations establish and develop skills, create a curricula, and define the requirements for school enrolment and graduation (Li, 2016). The structure of education systems reflect the predominant role of federal, state and local governments in facilitating the whole system. This essay seeks to articulate the role of Federal, State, and Local governments in education.

Despite the explicit growth of Federal government role in education, the federal department is aligned to promote student academic achievement and a worldwide competitiveness by ensuring equal access to available resources that foster academic excellence. The US secretary of education has a leadership role of facilitating an ongoing national dialogue regarding how to improve the results exhibited by all students in a state’s educational system. This entails activities such as raising awareness both at national and community levels on educational challenges, disseminating current discoveries on what works in learning and teaching and helping local communities find solutions to difficult educational stresses (U.S. Department of Education, n.d.).

The primary role of the state government in education include establishing policies for administering and coordinating the federal assistance to education. The board collects information regarding the needs of students within the United States and beyond and facilitates enforcement of the federal laws that cover the vast range of student needs (Li, 2016).

The local government works closely with community based educational institutions to ensure that there are enough schools by either building more schools or extending the institutions (Li, 2016). The local governments also assist the state government to implement practical initiatives and legislations related to school development, children wellness and families. Moreover, the local systems allocate finance to schools so that students are provided with the necessary educational resources.

In conclusion, schools and education systems are important institutions to any state. They create a foundation and build the professional paths of students for state development. As discussed, it is notable that Federal, State, and Local governments play explicit roles in education.
