The Role of Nature in Jesus Teachings
Jesus spent much time doing out door miracles and teachings. Gospel confirms that he loved the natural world, reflected upon it, and created a great affection for it. For instance, in Matthew 6:26, Jesus compares God’s care for the birds to how he cares for humans. Through his teachings, Jesus brought out the beauty of the world and emphasized on the role of human beings in protecting it. He used Mountains as a site of the Transfiguration where he sat, sort comfort from God, taught and prayed. Nature was of an intrinsic value to Jesus’ teachings.
As evident in Matthew 6:28-31, Jesus referred to the lilies of the field and the manner that God clothes them in reference to human worries about material things. In this regard, Jesus used the life pattern of a lily to convince beings that since God controls all creation, if He is able to take good care of the flower, then it is obvious that the same God is an umbrella to human beings. God understands all heart desires and He is good enough to reach out to every entity.
In Matthew 13:1-9, Jesus referred the word of God to seeds sown in human hearts. In this context, human beings are required to thrive in the word of God and seek a greater comfort from him. Human beings have been created with a great potentiality that allows them overcome temptations and embrace a spiritual growth by seeking the greater kingdom of God. Finally, in Matthew 10:29-30, Jesus used sparrows as an example of God’s concern so that human beings do not easily give up in life, but understand the idea that God is in greater control of situations.downsides, hence facilitating an effective engagement process.
