The Role of Research in College Writing

College education has proven to be very challenging, especially with the aspects of writing and research, which are inevitable. With professors and tutors being the primary audience of college writings, there is a fear that gets into the nerves of every student with myself, not an exception. Therefore, my perception of college writing has always been one full of uncertainties because of the belief that writing errors negatively affect the quality of research and the conventional wisdom of the author. That is, texts that show significant level of spelling errors, poor grammar, and insufficient argument have a connotation of low writing quality (Phillips & Ahrenhoerster, 2018). This creates a perception of the authors being less intelligent and creative, which then influences their academic growth. Nevertheless, my experience with college writing confirms that despite the challenges in college writing, consistency and hard work are sufficient to make every student become the best in writing and research through improvement in text quality.

Writing a research paper can be very intimidating at first, but the resilience and determination to make the best out of your college education ensure a significant level of success. In writing, research plays a vital role since it deals with the establishment of facts as well as determination of new conclusions, which are essential in every academic discipline. Therefore, because every writing assignment has a particular rhetorical purpose to fulfil, research helps the student in meeting the demands of the audience since only through research can one  conform to the readers’ expectations (Blakeslee & Fleischer, 2019). Furthermore, research helps in securing the methodologies that are essential in the organization of concepts and ideas to bring out precision and quality in the writing of every college student.
