Answer
“...We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt, as we refuse to believe. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice…”
The excerpt of the speech of Martin Luther King Junior has significant implication in the modern political climate. Justice is hard to find, the corrupt system delays justice for ordinary people, especially for those who are lower social class (Martin Luther King Jr Speech, 2021). The poor, in the current political system, are compared with the Negros of America during the time of martin Luther king. They share various characteristics that make them experience the same circumstances from those in leadership. While the Negros were segrated, denied opportunities, and deserved justice, the poor in the current political system are discriminated and denied opportunities. Both the Negroes and the poor of the current society experience poverty and is instigated by leadership.
While the system of justice is established through courts and constitution, justice is only available for a small group of people who find favor in the eyes of the government, such as the rich (Merry, 2018). However, the less privileged members of the society find it hard to get justice, and just as Martin, Luther Jr. puts it… “We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt” nonetheless, the less fortunate members of the society as was seen among the negroes and as is currently experienced by the people in the lower class system are denied of opportunities to improve their economic system despite the fact that those opportunities exist (Merry, 2018). The current political system is marred with corruption and favoritism and the poor hardly access the resources. Allocation is allocated based on connection with those in authority to distribute national resources.
