In most communities, especially in rural areas, the health centers lack adequate resources to care for patient needs making it difficult to offer quality and affordable services that result in client satisfaction. According to the clinical practices illustrated by Papke-Shields, and Boyer-Wright, 2017, the hospital in my community remains insufficiently stocked with essential medical equipment instrumental in caring for lifestyle diseases, especially among the elderly. In a bid to improve the structure and equipment within the health center, this proposal seeks a grant of $100,000 that will be essential in purchasing additional hospital beds, basic diagnostics including blood pressure monitor, and pulse oximeter, an exam room with modern equipment, patient monitors, and defibrillators. This equipment will reduce nursing burnout and increase the quality of outcomes (Brooks, 2019). Through bringing every stakeholder on board, it becomes easy to make the project a success with minimal setbacks. 

Defining the Problem

The health center within the community has remained instrumental in improving living standards by providing an incredible opportunity for community members to seek medical attention. According to the hospital management reports, the center has serviced a massive number of patients since its construction with impressive outcomes leading to reduced mortality and improved well-being in the community. Besides, the hospital has further created employment opportunities in the society in terms of manual jobs. However, it remains insufficient to handle significant health issues and medical complications, limiting its efficiency. The health sector is becoming very dynamic with experienced lifestyle changes, leading to numerous chronic diseases, which often require hospitalization of patients (Pelayo, 2017). Instances of readmission are on the rise, further putting pressure on the limited facilities and equipment. The limited resources and equipment make it necessary to purchase additional beds, basic diagnostics, pulse oximeter, blood pressure monitors, patient monitors, and defibrillators. These will be essential to equip the hospital efficiently and make it possible to handle every fundamental community health need.

Project Values

Although the health center already has a positive impact within the community, the 21^st Century healthcare demands require a patient-centered approach in providing health services, which makes it essential to improve the equipment to the level that assists in attaining the best outcome. The primary consideration remains improving the quality of life and making the prospects of accessing medical healthcare easier. Diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and obesity have become very common in the community, but the center remains unable to provide the best services (Papke-Shields & Boyer-Wright, 2017). In some instances, it has led to increased healthcare costs when members have to seek alternative services in neighboring communities. The value of this grant will be increased valuation of human life and dignity with the provision of better and human services.

Goals and Objectives

This grant proposal’s objective is to develop a strategy that will lead to improved healthcare equipment within the community. Subsequently, this will lead to the creation of crucial platforms for handling complex health issues in the society. Without proper and adequate equipment, healthcare workers suffer severe burnout, which significantly affects their productivity and the ability to satisfy every patient. Where nursing burnout decreases, the quality of outcome increases leading to the realization of ultimate client and community satisfaction.

Alternative Options

Although this approach is medical, it offers an opportunity to solve the already existing problem. However, there is a need to create a different approach that is more behavioral and educational, leading to a change in lifestyle and minimization of the community health risks. This involves setting up training opportunities to develop, conduct, and evaluate the prevention of lifestyle diseases, including diabetes and high blood pressure (Brooks, 2019). The minimization of these risks makes it possible to limit the possibility of creating a burden on the limited resources within the health center. This alternative also requires proper funding to help in creating and facilitating the programs.

The programs will seek to promote proper nutrition and increased regular physical activities, especially among the elderly, who have proven to be vulnerable. Besides, an alternative measure requires the hiring of nutrition professionals, fitness team, and healthcare professionals to help the community understand the deeper aspect of the concept of behavioral change in the quest for better and affordable life. It will also be necessary to develop a screening protocol to assess the level of risk and vulnerability, which, in essence, will necessitate the purchase of vital healthcare equipment. When customized, such training can be client-centered and evidence-based, such that it serves the ultimate interest of the society and ensures every person is brought on board.

Proposals Anticipated Consequences

By bringing every stakeholder on board, the proposal will lead to different outcomes within the community. In essence, the population target in this proposal is majorly the aged who are prone to chronic diseases. However, every member of the society remains a vital stakeholder in this with an incredible opportunity to make a difference if efforts are pulled together. With proper funding and subsequent acquisition of the necessary equipment, the community will be able to eliminate challenges arising from inefficient and inadequate health services. Equipment purchase decisions are never too easy to make since they require having the best foot forward to help in having machines that serve the interest of the particular institution. The community’s needs should be a driving force in these decisions, such that the results make the grant a worthwhile endeavor.

There is an expectation that chronic diseases will be on the rise in this century because of lifestyle changes and health complications. Therefore, this grant proposal’s ultimate consequence is the realization of an improved health center that can provide holistic services to the community. There will be health workers’ empowerment to provide the best services to the level of their training. It also makes it possible to realize and increase the quality of the outcome. Improved health and access to health care leads to an improvement in the standard of living and the quality of life, even among the elderly.

Evaluation and Selection of Action Plans

To make good use of this grant, we have to engage the primary stakeholders in the evaluation criteria before deciding what machines and equipment to prioritize. We have in mind the reality that there are instances when funds are insufficient to purchase all the materials. Therefore, this requires the formulation of an executive committee inclusive of various leaders within the community (Pelayo, 2017). Among them, including health center doctors, since they have a significant influence in deciding the most essential equipment. Besides, they are also privy to the health records’ statistics with the conditions they struggle to handle. Administrators and departmental heads also become instrumental in the formulation of logistics necessary to secure the smooth implementation of the proposed plan.

This program’s success requires $100,000 that will be used as follows; $80,000 for the purchase of the equipment, $10,000 for the installation and maintenance of the equipment, and $10,000 for the training of the available health professionals on the use of this equipment. Purchase and subsequent installation of the equipment without equipping the human resource on proper management is destined to attract wastage of resources with no visible gains. Moreover, the team will have proper consideration for the in-sourced service models versus the original equipment manufacturer (Allmendinger, 2017). This consideration has proven to be a significant step in cost savings. During the purchase and implementation, the hospital will ensure proper management of the equipment through extended warranties. This aims at minimizing lost advantages after the purchase of vital medical equipment. It is also essential to consider opportunities that can help in extending the warranties that provide training services, software updates, and service keys.

Review and Evaluation

While reviewing and evaluating the progress of the project, little consideration is essential. The effectiveness of the purchased equipment and the service providers’ ability to use them is crucial in the preparation of productivity and efficiency reports. Although the machines are likely to create more revenue, they also come with additional expenses that the center was not incurring before. To reduce these expenses, a review leading to the standardization of equipment is critical in reducing costs through balancing preferences, which helps reduce medical costs. Collaborating with other like-minded organizations can also reduce the expenditure on equipment, especially management and servicing (Pelayo, 2017). The committee that guided the formulation of the action plan and the implementation process should continue with the duty to ensure the realization of every objective presented at the initial stages of the project. A compilation of the reports within the shortest time is essential for accountability and transparency.
