Introduction
The Triple Bottom line management is a concept that is based on a focus on the social and environmental aspects of a business, in addition to profits. Rather than having only one bottom line, this concept argues that having profit, people, and the planet will be much better. That is why many businesses have since chosen to focus on corporate social responsibility. This paper will apply the Triple Bottom line concept of management to a news story by Summerfield (2020).
Creating Change through Corporate Social Responsibility
In this news story, Summerfield (2020) argues that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aims at ensuring that organizations will promote important issues for them and society, while also contributing positively to social and environmental change. Thus, the companies which choose to adopt the CSR programmes expect their employees to also act in ways that will promote social and environmental change, while also focusing on profits.
It is because of this concept that companies are considering environmental conservation practices. Rather than engage in operations activities that will destroy the environment, alternatives are being considered. There are more practices which are meant to show support for the society, such as making donations, encouraging employee volunteers, and even educating individuals on their carbon footprints and how to minimize it (Summerfield, 2020). While doing all these, companies are still focused on profits since they try to improve their relationship with customers by showing them that the benefits will also be reflected in the society.
Conclusion
The CSR is an example of a Triple Bottom line management approach since it ensures that all activities are running smoothly. The company will not harm the environment or have a strained relationship with the society. As a result, more profits will be experienced since the public will want to show their support for such an initiative.
