The Underestimated Value of Sustainable Engineering in Australia’s Infrastructural Projects
Research Methodology
Considering the problematic state of Australia’s infrastructure system, it is quite wise to explore the underlying dynamics causing inadequacies in key domains including transport, communication, and construction among others. Such an investigation is crucial in awakening policymakers and pundits to the fact that the government has a huge responsibility ahead. Sustainable engineering is a fundamental concept, and it should be embraced by Australians to enhance livelihood for present and future generations. This research is quite instrumental in shedding some light on matters that ought to be explored further and applied in the context of infrastructure development.
Research Aim
- The present project aims at exploring and exposing the underestimated value of sustainable engineering in Australia’s infrastructure projects.
Research Questions
- What is sustainable engineering, and why is it relevant in Australia’s infrastructure?
- How can the principles of sustainable engineering be applied in the Australian context to enhance the value of its infrastructure projects?
Keywords
- Sustainable Engineering
- Engineering
- Infrastructure
- Australia
- Project Management
Research Design
This project will apply a qualitative approach to the issue. It is important to note that qualitative studies usually focus on unearthing social phenomena such as the one experienced in Australia. Such a scenario affirms the need for such an approach in the proposed project. Noteworthy is the fact that the review will be systematic to enhance data clarity.
Data Collection
Sampling
Considering the scope of this work, the researcher finds it sufficient to engage in a critical analysis of relevant articles from credible journals. As mentioned, research will be conducted on various information databases including Google, Google Scholar, Elsevier, EBSCOHOST, and ResearchGate. These networks are crucial in locating valuable research data in the internet. The selection criteria for the articles in this project will be quite straightforward: focus will be placed on article entries in credible journals including:
- International Journal of Managing Projects in Business
- International Journal of Technology
- Sustainability Science
- Journal of Environmental Management
- Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure
- Sustainability
- Journal of Cleaner Production
Selection Criteria
It suffices to add that this project will incorporate articles prepared between 2015 and 2020 to ensure that all relevant information is up to date. Articles selected for this project will be selected based on various keywords, including, Sustainable Engineering, Engineering, Infrastructure, Australia, and Project Management. It appears fair to highlight that the sources utilized in this project will contain information from primary investigations.
Data Analysis
The data analysis phase will be equally straightforward since this project applies the systematic analysis approach. This project’s researcher will rely on keen exploration and logical reasoning to shed light on the matter under research. For the sake of clarity, the researcher will utilize the three techniques of qualitative assessment including content, thematic, and discourse analysis (Mohajan 2018). The first mandates analysts to capture and reflect on the meaning of words and phrases with respect to a particular issue. As far as this project is concerned, content analysis will be used to determine the arguments presented by secondary source authors. Noteworthy is the fact that thematic assessment will be instrumental in giving meaning to the content of each piece (Mohajan 2018). Here, the researcher will utilize the data to keep tabs on the broad patterns and themes in each sampled source. Once information is collected, discourse analysis will be used to collate and shed light on the issue in discussion based on the themes and arguments presented by all articles collectively. Since this project applies a qualitative stance, information will not be linked to variables. Rather, the content will be utilized to offer thematic direction and strength in the result.
