Evidence-Based Practice
Evidence-based practice has become one of the most important processes through which social workers determine the best quality approach to use in addressing problems or concerns of the patients. The process is aligned to the intervention, the way or practice of working with people, and families so that they can improve the lifestyle and be independent (Muijs & Reynolds, 2017). During my internship, I got the opportunity to work with Hispanic children and families where I employ evidenced based practice.
Most of the Hispanic families are immigrants and in the most cases, Immigration and acculturation sometimes are stressful and even lacerating. Immigration often separates families from their extended family, resulting in an enormous loss of support. This has led to many families and majority of children to develop some mental disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. In order to help such group of individuals, I employed cognitive behavioral therapy, an evidenced based method of psychological treatment that is effective for a wide ranges of psychological problems (Salloum et al., 2016). Its major aim is to change one’s negative interactive and thinking methods. Particularly, it is premeditated to decrease troublesome and destructive behaviors by enlightening clients about the coping skills to manage or handle the problematic feelings and situations. By using cognitive behavioral therapy, the clients are able to learn how to modify or change their negative thoughts, interrupts the cycle of depressive and mania episodes, and eliminate destructive thoughts.

Since the group that I worked with are those who were suffering from mental problems, the foremost support that was of importance is emotional and social support. To the ones who were severely affected needed healthcare services for serious depressive conditions. School is also fundamental to such individuals for proper human interaction with other peer.
