Answer

    • Criminal Prosecution as a Profession

Understanding how effective the system of rules governs a particular country or a community is essential to upcoming lawyers. As such, notaries can either choose to opt for a criminal prosecutor or a criminal defense attorney. A criminal prosecutor is a licensed lawyer who works for at the prosecution office – a government law firm with their clients as the State, which pays for upholding the law. On the other hand, a criminal defense attorney is an accredited lawyer who usually represents the defendant – plaintiff – in a lawsuit or a criminal prosecution. Therefore, this paper elucidates why one would – rationally – opt for criminal prosecution as a profession. Consequently, it discusses the employment aspect, professional responsibility, whom to work for, rewards, and criminal prosecution difficulties as a profession.

The fundamental reason why a legal professional – a lawyer – might opt for a criminal prosecution profession is to be part of a government system that aids in upholding the State’s laws and seeking justice.  It is also self-satisfying to be part of the State’s judicial system that helps the government apprehend and convict criminals. Therefore, the need and the zeal to be an agent of legal change might make a lawyer to opt for criminal prosecution as a profession.  Moreover, there are various employment aspects as a criminal prosecutor, which includes requirements like having a legal degree from a law school (Boston University, 2016). AA State’s prosecutor should have at least five years’ experience in a related legal field. Furthermore, the basic salary of a criminal prosecutor ranges from 53,000 to 74,000 dollars.

Notably, a criminal prosecutor, as a professional, has three distinct responsibilities within their jurisdiction. First, they work closely with the police, victims, and witnesses to investigate criminal activities. Secondly, based on the sufficiency on the insufficiency of the evidence gathered, the prosecutor decides on the instigation of legal proceedings or actions. Lastly, it is the responsibility of a prosecutor to prove that the suspect is guilty or innocent. Usually, the proof is through a questioning of the suspect, witnesses, or experts. Typically, criminal prosecutors are employed by the government and government-based agencies. The prosecutor’s office exists at various government steps, like federal, state, and local governments.

As a prosecutor, various rewards might be given to a criminal prosecutor either to appreciate a successful case or as a form of motivation. These rewards include variable salaries, which can be raised depending on the competence and ranks and promotions to high ranks within the prosecution jurisdiction. Additionally, a prosecutor can be rewarded by performance-based bonuses to the contingency fees. However, some difficulties come with working as a criminal prosecutor professional.  Some of the difficulties include difficulty in struggling with demanding tasks like identifying, tracking, and disclosing officers’ misconduct and issues on disciplines (Lawrence, Gourdet & Banks, 2019). Additionally, they are challenged by the inadequacy and inconsistency in data collection shared among the concerned agencies, partners, and communities.

In conclusion, criminal prosecution is preferable to the criminal defense attorney profession since it involves upholding the State’s laws and service to the nation. Its employment perspective involves having a legal degree in law school, experience, and salary limitations. Additionally, criminal prosecutors are responsible for investigations of criminal activities, determining if the resultant evidence allows for a legal proceeding, and appearing in court to prove whether the suspect is innocent or guilty. Typically, criminal prosecutors are employed by governments at different levels to help in thwarting crimes and apprehending criminals. Moreover, prosecutors are rewarded by raising salaries and promotions. However, they are facing various difficulties like inadequacy and inconsistency in data collection.
