 Describe training guides, self-directed learning strategies, and the use of smart technology

Training guides refer to the process and organization of methods of training employees during the course of their employment. Even though most employees come into the job market with good academic qualification, sometimes they need some form of training to reconcile what they learnt in class and what happens in practice (Kreiner and Messnarrz, 2018). For successful training guide, an employer or organization must develop a training manual that captures the timeline s and activities during the planned training. The importance of such manual is that it directs and guides employees during training and cushions them from missing important activities. For instance, when an organization realizes there is a skill gap or need, they organize for training of employees to meet the need or gap.

 After that, there is need for an evaluation to see if the training met the intended objective. On the other hand, a self-directed study gives the leaners time and opportunities to make progress without any guidance or direction from an instructor. The importance is to make the employee progress at his own speed and ability (Class study guide). The use of smart technology implies the reliance on data to determine the necessary means of making improvements. Technology gives human resource department the ability to monitor administration training with more ease. Some of the strategies include e-learning which involves the use of electronic media, virtual class among others to train employees (Class study guide). Others include mobile learning, learning management system and learning portals.

Describe two to three methods for organizations to harness the use of self-directed training. Why is this important?

As stated above, self directed learning involves giving an employee the opportunity to learn without the direction of instructor. The strategy involves giving the learner the training materials and other performance support materials like job aids (Kreiner and Messnarz, 2018). Other strategies might include videos and audios to aid the employee in the learning process. Accordingly, the learner takes his time to watch the videos that contain the material for his training needs and then get to develop better understanding. The videos could be of recorded instructors in class. The same applies to audios where the leaner takes time to listen to some form of educative audio on the respective discipline or are of study (Kreiner and Messnarz, 2018). The importance of self-directed training is that it gives the learner the ability and impetus to train and learn at his own speed. It also builds confidence in the learner because he doesn’t have to worry about self being a slow learner.

            The use of technology has been very impactful in aiding learner-guided approach to training. For example, technology provides the platform for e-learning where learners and instructor can exchange knowledge and ideas through technology like computers and mobile phones (Class study guide). The advantage of using technology is its ability to make learning more efficient and effective, especially with the emergence of Covid-19 pandemic. Through technology, learners can also learn through the learning management system which is an electronic system that contains curriculum and course content. Law is an example of a field of study that can heavily rely on technology in the implementation of learner-guided approach. Through technology, the law student or leaner can access reading materials from the website or the instructor can share the same with the leaner through emails or teams and outlook apps.
