Answer
My Personal Values
Our values are often referred to as the guiding principles or the life goals that reflect what are importance to us in life. While individuals may have several short-terms goals such as visiting certain places or getting promotions, values are long-term goals that are not specific to a particular situation since they guide the behaviors of people in all aspects of life. I believe on applying my values everywhere be it work place, at home, and even during my social life, hence I am a one value system person. My core values that become the main part of this reflection are courage, trustworthy, honesty, commitment, and knowledge.
The first value that is part of me is courage. This is the ability to act on one’s belief despite disapproval or danger. In both my personal and professional life, I am unmoved with threats and fear. I got what I want as long as I know it does not harm anybody or erode my principles. Through courage, I have learned to say no when I believe something is wrong irrespective of the situation. Secondly, I am trustworthy. This is a compliment that I have been given by several people both at work and at home. I am a person you can trust and be assured the trust cannot be betrayed. I am also an honest person because I believe that lies and betrayal cannot lead one to greater places. Commitment is another value that I adore since it entails dedication, ability to work hard and bear infinite fortitude. Lastly, I believe I am knowledgeable and possess expertise to handle different activities and situations in a manner that success becomes the end result.
Personally, values are like characters, most of them are inborn while others are acquired and become naturally infused in people’s lives. In my case, my values which are courage, trustworthy, honesty, commitment, and knowledge are part of me and applied in my day to day activities be it at home, work, and even during social life. It is in this context that I operate" from one values systems where my values are applied equally in all situations be it during my personal or professional life.
I believe I must operate from value system since am the same person in different places, which is at work or at home. I, therefore, cannot be a dishonest person at home and an honest person in my professional endurances. Additionally, how one behaves at home or in social places reflects how they can behave at workplace.
Despite the fact that I respect my values at all times, one of my values has been challenged, my honesty. I have been accused by the manager of sharing crucial client’s information. This happened when the particular client found certain information about her in social media. I felt extremely bad since I know and other colleges can attest that I am very honest. Having known that I did not share client’s information to anyone I did not give in to that accusation, something that made the manger mad at me. However, later it was found that it is the client who shared the information with another person who posted them in social media.
