Answer

Vision Statement, Employee Motivation and Goal Setting

An organization’s vision statement plays an essential role in steering it to success. According to Romano (2017), a good vision provides guidance through which an organization articulates where it wants to go and what it wishes to achieve. When leaders set challenging visions for their organization, it implies that they are giving a cloudy picture of where their organizations should go. This may result into numerous obstacles such as employees feeling detached from the vision since they may not relate it to their daily activities. Consequently, the employees may lack motivation and inspiration as well as other benefits associated with good vision making it hard to realize organizational goals.

Employees are considered the greatest resource an organization has since they are the ones who expedite performance of an organization to bring profit. To motivate them so as to make them deliver to their utmost, effective leaders explains to them the significance of the task. According to Lauby (2015), communication is key to the motivation of employees as it encourages them to do more once they understand the need for doing so. Equally, delegation of duties and empowering employees by the leaders also facilitates their motivation. According to Lauby (2015), when employees feel they can do more on their own, they feel more motivated to perform better.

Structured goal setting facilitate organizational success since it gives a step-by-step plan for accomplishing of tasks therefore preventing the tendency to veer off the course and instead, focus the main objectives of the organization (Information Resources Management Association, 2015). Also, the goals help in motivation of employees, especially when such goals are incorporated with incentive programs such as rewards for meeting specific objectives. What is more, just like vision statements, goals also help in guiding operations of an organization towards a given course, therefore, facilitating its success.
