Website Creation from Scratch
The process of creating websites has a very rich heritage. The first webpage ever went live on August 6, 1991. It was made by Tim Berners-Lee, dedicated to the world wide web project. Since then, website creation has pretty much evolved. Nowadays, methods of building websites have evolved from the original method to additional two other methods- the use of HTML (hypertext markup language) coding, and the use of a blogging platform such as WordPress. This essay will explore the HTML coding method.
The first step involves choosing a domain name. A domain name is a URL that people use to directly navigate to your site. The domain name has to be registered and an annual fee will be charged. In the second step, you choose a text editor. When writing HTML tags, a high-quality editor that can handle the coding language of a web is required. Some of these text editors include, Notepad+++, Sublime Text, Text Mate and many others. The third step should entail creating a HTML template. It is mandatory to use HTML tags in creating a website. It translates files made with the extension “.html.” The main page created is basically titled “index.html.” The page is created and saved and then filled with the basic framework to resemble the following: –
Step four requires you to structure files and folders. Files and folders ought to be structured and organized according to the desired site appearance. However, in step five, you should write the content. The content is structured such that there would be a header, navigation bar, the body and finally, the footer. The structure should resemble the image below.
In the sixth step, you ought to style with HTML or CSS (cascading style sheets). The site is then made to be more visually appealing with formatting, coloring or adding images using HTML only or by incorporating CSS. CSS is designed to separate the styling files. It adds color, boulders, and backgrounds. The final step is to publish. In specific, once the website is designed to satisfaction, the website is then published.
In conclusion, after a website is created, it should be updated regularly for it to be up-to-date with the latest content. Additionally, the website may need link building. Links are created and users using the search engines are able to crawl through individual pages in the created site and links between the entire website. Building a website using HTML is very cheap compared to all the other methods. Additionally, it preserves the website creation heritage.
