For the third response exercise, your task is to learn how to use speaking as a mode for producing new knowledge, while listening to the ways the texts to which you respond develop their subjects and objects of study. The spoken response can be a 5-minute audio or video recording. Any type of file can be uploaded via the submission tool box. This assignment asks you to focus on the development, articulation, and elaboration of your own questions that emerge from your engagements with the texts. This is not an exercise in which you summarize the reading or evaluate the argument. The main point of this assignment is to start from your own questions, while synthesizing your interpretations and analyses of the texts. Answer
Week 6 English Assignment
There are two types of texts and the first type of text is an academic text. The academic texts have some characteristics in common. One of these common characteristics are kind of difficult language and formulation. Some of the texts that we have been reading have been able to show how they try to show post-coloniality and how we explore the post-colloniality. Many students have expressed their difficulties in understanding the literary devices include the metaphor, the narrative style or even the position of the narrator for example first person, second person and third person. We often try to make sense of literary text by means of trying to explain how it is saying something about a dimension of human experience
There is an assumption that the literary text has a kind of independence and unique styles which is different from the other academic readings. There is also repetition in these literary text. This repetition of the word for instance “you” may have a kind of strange effect, meaning that it is not always clear to whom is the text addressed to. When reading the novel, we try to imagine ourselves as tourist and visitors going somewhere. One of the difficulties that comes with the texts is trying to figure out how and in what ways do we identify and negotiate what the text is representing for us and how and in what ways do we process and think about the text.
Another literary device is the use of grammatical marks such as parenthesis. There are other themes that has been covered such as themes of economy. Another place to pay attention to is the change of scene. Another place to pay attention on is how the elements of shifting changes within the narrative. How they are showing the shift and change in scenes and from one theme to another
