Week 8 Reflection on the Course
I can rate my learning in this course as 8 in a scale of 1 to 10. The topic that was most interesting to me in this course was application and use of data and statistics as the basis of evidence for clinical practice and delivery of care. At my current organization, data and statistics forms the foundation of change with focus on improvement of care safety and quality. Another, important concept that I have learnt in this course is how technology can be integrated into the healthcare industry, for instance, the use of information systems to keep and increase accessibility of health care records to authorized persons. On the other hand, I have learnt some of the basic precautions and security measures that I should put in place to protect health care information systems from unauthorized access and/or misuse of information. I can currently use the precautions and security measures in my current organization to preserve data integrity, safety, privacy, and confidentiality. I can begin to use some concepts in my job right now. These concepts include evidence-based practice informed by data, data protection and data security, and other concepts such as data safety, privacy and confidentiality of health care information. Besides, the statistical skills and tools that I have learnt in this course will support my decision-making abilities in practice. On the other hand, I learnt how to collect and synthesis/analyze data, interpret, and present data in a report form, PowerPoint presentation, and in leading sites that publish articles.
