Answer

Whether Vaping is a Safe Alternative to Smoking

Introduction

Background and definition: Defining vaping and brief context about vaping

Thesis statement:  Vaping should not be employed as an alternative to smoking because it exposes users to nicotine that is linked to adverse health effects, exposes users to body harming toxins, and can subject individuals to unintended harm.

First argument: Vaping exposes individuals to nicotine that is associated with adverse health impacts

  • Nicotine is highly addictive
  • Nicotine poses health risks to developing babies and pregnant women
  • Nicotine can damage brain development in adolescents, which proceeds into the early and mid-20s (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018)

Second argument: Vaping exposes users to body harming toxins

  • E-cigarrette contains cancer-containing chemicals such as benzene along with tiny particles reaching deep into lungs (National Centre for Health Research, 2019)
  • E-cigarrettes contain formaldehyde that causes cancer
  • Contains toxins that result into chronic illnesses such as heart disease. Emphysema, and bronchitis (National Centre for Health Research, 2019)
  • E-cigarrettes contain acrolein that causes cancer and DNA damage

Third argument: Vaping exposes users to unintended bodily injuries or harm

  • Defective e-cigarrette batteries have been associated with explosions and fires, some of which have led to serious injuries (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018).
  • Exposure to acute nicotine from e-cigarrette can be toxic.

Conclusion:

Vaping should not be employed as an alternative to smoking, as it can subject individuals to unintended injury, exposes users to toxins that are harmful to the body, and nicotine that is associated with adverse health effects.
