Answer
Wk5 Discussion Question
Establishing and maintain a sound management, and accomplishing transitions calls for balancing of conformance with aspects of performance of the board. The board should elaborate its position and comprehend the major functions it executes, as opposed to the functions conducted by management (Adam, 2013). Moreover, the role of the board in strategy formulation should be clearly defined. The board should be furnished with adequate information about organisational operations and status by providing regular board papers. Furthermore, there should be a robust system of risk management and oversight, and internal control (Adam, 2013). Specific policies that guide delegations should be established to ensure order in organisational behaviour. Clear terms should be developed for the tenure of office and the board should be subjected to constant performance reviews to provide opportunities for development and improvement (Adam, 2013). Embracing these measures can contribute significantly to the establishment and maintenance of a sound management, and accomplishment of transitions.
The preliminary step towards the identification and selection of candidates for a Board of Directors involves the establishment of ground rules and goals. This stage should then be followed by five primary steps. The first step is the selection of a nominating committee. The second step is the specification of candidate qualification (Adam, 2013). The third step is the identification of potential candidates. Screening, selecting, and recommending candidates are done in the fourth step. The fifth step is the nomination of candidates for them to be elected by shareholders. When it comes to the development and motivation of an effective cadre of workers, the business should focus on five areas (Adam, 2013). These areas include the provision of a positive working setting, rewarding and recognizing employees, involving and engaging workers, development employees’ skills and potentials, and measuring job satisfaction (Adam, 2013). An employee development is essential for workers development, whereas a reward system is needed for employee motivation. Conducting a performance appraisal can contribute to the identification of best employees.
